In the last two months, the Colombian government has lost every single political contest: it declined dramatically in the polls, where president Duque’s favorability is going steadily south; then it was defeated in the regional elections, where Uribe’s party lost its key strongholds; then in the Constitutional Court, where a crucial tax reform was deemed unconstitutional; then in Congress, where defense minister Guillermo Botero was forced to resign due to an imminent impeachment vote; and finally, the government lost the battle in the streets, where peoples of quite different creeds continue to walk together under quite different banners, nevertheless unified by the pleasures of Government bashing.
