Executive Summary In this month’s review of economic news, we focus on the stark contrast between the bright promise that structural reforms will serve as major catalysts of economic growth and the chiaroscuro portrait painted by recent indicators on the current state of the Mexican economy. By the end of 2013, no economic indicator was firmly in expansion mode. Economic activity provided further evidence that the economy was growing only minimally through Q4, likely by less than 1.6%, and just 1.1% for 2013.
