Armenia and Turkey negotiate on forming diplomatic relations

On March 12 the foreign ministers of the two countries met in Antalya, Turkey. It is the same town where Russo-Ukrainian talks took place days ago.Ankara and Yerevan have concurred that they shall continue their endeavor to establish normal relations. This would mean an exchange of embassies and trade. The border between the two nations has been closed since 1993. In 2009 a bid at normalization that foundered.Turkey is a stalwart ally of Azerbaijan, which is the archenemy of Armenia. Turko-Armenian relations are problematic because of the Armenian Genocide, which Turkey does not recognize. Ironically, it was Armenia's comprehensive defeat by Azerbaijan in 2020 that seems to have opened the way to normalization of relations with Turkey.
