New York City mayor Eric Adams spared the politics author the boring task of covering Ekrem Imamoglu’s pending disbarment from political office and the potential for early elections.

Instead, this week’s political essays are largely dedicated to foreign affairs. The indictment of NYC mayor Adams is a major embarrassment for Turkey, but at this juncture it is difficult to predict whether it would morph into new problems between the two countries. A more substantive development is claims of negotiations between two countries to swap control of S-400 anti-missile systems in return for allowing Turkey back into the F35 jet fighter program. Is a deal possible?
