Belarus and Russian air forces carry out joint drills

On January 16 the allied nations began their drills. This involves every airfield in Belarus. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense has been unusually revealing about the nature of the drills. It stated that the two air forces are practicing airborne landings, deliveries of material and the evacuation of troops. The two air forces are eager to be able to cooperate smoothly. They will go on until February 1. Ukraine is worried. Russian military drills in Belarus in February 2022 turned into the invasion of Ukraine. Belarus stressed that the drills in 2023 are solely defensive but will respond sharply to any provocation by Ukraine. Ukraine is concerned that Belarus is preparing to join the invasion of Ukraine this year. Russia sent at least 8 fighter jets and 4 cargo planes to Ukraine on January 15.
