President Erdogan lost the small amount of good will in the West generated by his principled Ukraine policy. The upcoming Syrian operation could turn doubt, into anti-Erdoganism.

We have been arguing that it is not election time yet, but Erdogan has apparently rolled up his sleeves to do some pretty nasty pre-electioneering. His old play book is in full display, though with no discernible results so far.

The election timing debate is raging across the media with new participants and novel ideas by the day. We briefly cover some interesting arguments in the manner of “food for thought”, though the politics author sticks to his conclusion that a summer currency event would compel Messrs. Erdogan and Bahceli to wait until next year.

Our latest poll data reveals a widening gap between IYIP-CHP vs AKP-MHP alliances in favor of the former. The smaller constituents of the Nation Alliance have now enough poll support to form a third alliance to circumvent the gerrymandering laws. AKP’s strong poll support at 30% may have been breached as our new presidential poll table demonstrates a clearcut victory for the opposition.
