May 21 Ministry of Justice: Naftogaz of Ukraine is seeking to validate in commercial arbitration in Kazakhstan its $1.44 bln claim against Gazprom for unpaid gas transit fees after the service was halted in 2022. Earlier, Naftogaz had won a similar arbitration against Gazprom in the Netherlands. However, Kazakhstani authorities stated that the Court of the Astana International Financial Center, which ruled on the dispute, operates under a special judicial regime and is not part of Kazakhstan’s judicial system, so its decisions won’t be enforced in the country. Finance Ministry: The final accounting confirmed that Kazakhstan's budget for 2025 has been executed with a deficit of 2.5% of GDP. May 22 Energy supply: In the first quarter of 2026, Russia exported 0.93 bln kWh of electricity to Kazakhstan, up from 0.7 bln kWh in the same period of 2025. Russian Inter RAO plans to keep electricity exports to Kazakhstan in 2026 at the same level as in 2025. Gazprom: The Board of Directors approved an agreement with several Kazakh partners, including QazaqGaz, outlining mutual obligations in the refining sector. KMG: The company’s oil production decreased by 12% y-o-y in 1Q26. CPC: The company’s oil transportation fell by 25% y-o-y in 1Q26. May 25 IPO: National Fund Samruk-Kazyna keeps its plan to hold an IPO of National railways (KTZ) in 2026. May 26 National pipeline company: Starting from June 1, KazTransOil will raise oil transportation tariffs for the domestic market by about 80%.
