The meeting that took place on August 17 at the Planalto Palace between President Jair Bolsonaro and Minister of the Economy Paulo Guedes further reaffirmed the trust between them. When leaving the Planalto Palace, where he discussed measures to edit the funding in the budget, Guedes said, "The president has a lot of confidence in me and I have a lot of confidence in him." Despite the noise caused by the “fiscal austerity vs. public spending” debate, there are signs that Jair Bolsonaro and Paulo Guedes are working to reconcile the opposing sides.
