The Liberal Party has decided to convene sessions of the Public Security and Foreign Affairs Committees, chaired by Deputies Paulo Bilynskyj and Felipe Barros—both close allies of Bolsonaro. In doing so, they are defying a directive from the President of the Lower House, Hugo Motta, who issued a statement saying there would be no committee sessions during the legislative recess. The government is scheduled to release its bimonthly revenue and expenditure report today. Key guidelines were discussed last week during a meeting of the government’s budget committee. Yesterday, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad stated that the government is evaluating support measures for companies affected by the 50% tariff, while stressing that any solution should avoid increasing primary spending. One option under discussion is offering credit support.
