On February 1 Boris Johnson visited Ukraine. He is there for talks and to signal support. This is also a welcome distraction from Johnson's domestic scandal and his terrible approval ratings.Johnson vowed to impose severe sanctions on Russia if there is any incursion at all. He suggested that a war would be catastrophic for Russia. Johnson offered USD 120 million in military aid to Ukraine.The British Defense Secretary will fly to Ukraine next week for talks with his opposite number.Putin made his first public remarks on Ukraine since December 2021. He expressed his desire to find peaceful solution through talks with NATO but said it would be hard.
