Car bomb in Russia targets pro-war activist

On May 6 a car in which Zakhar Prilepin was traveling was bombed, but he survived. His driver was killed. The attack took place in Nizhny Novgorod, 850 km from the Ukraine border. A suspect has been arrested. Prilepin is a former soldier and hardline nationalist novelist. He has often been to East Ukraine and urged Russia to fight harder. He accused the Russian cultural elite of being unpatriotic. Russia said that the assassination was at the behest of Ukrainian special services. Ukraine neither claimed responsibility nor denied it. If Ukraine can strike deep inside Russia then it is very worrying for Russia. Ukraine hinted that the slaying was due to internecine warfare among the Russian elite. This is not as ridiculous as it may seem. Such killings were not unusual in the 1990s.
