China virus check – week ending June 15

Our latest data for economic activity in China shows a general improvement in trends:

1) Rising coal consumption in the power industry and slightly positive operations for iron ore blast furnaces.
2) Traffic congestion was surprisingly weak.
3) Expressway traffic was generally positive W/W.
4) Underground metro rail was relatively flat with a dip at the end of the week.
5) Little change in freight logistics, as in the previous week.
6) Commercial property transactions varied sharply over the week.
7) A positive trend in the job search data from Baidu.
