With the resumption of activity in the Judiciary and the Legislature, Brasilia is expected to have a busy month. The government’s initial goal is to ensure the approval of the 2025 Budget. President Lula is expected to submit two important proposals to Congress as part of a strategy to boost the government’s popularity: a bill that would exempt individuals earning up to R$5,000 from paying the Individual Income Tax (IRPF), and another addressing payroll-deductible credit for private-sector workers. The Supreme Federal Court (STF) also has several important issues on its agenda, including Extraordinary Appeal (RE) No. 870,214 and the Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (ADI) No. 3,596.
