Another set of measures was announced today by the government. To combat the negative effects of the coronavirus epidemic on the financial system, the Central Bank (BC) announced the availability of R$ 1.216 trillion for Brazilian banks. The figure, released today by the BC itself, is equivalent to 16.7% of Brazil´s GDP. Today, the BC announced a further reduction in compulsory rates, from 25% to 17%. The measure, which will be valid until December 14, represents an additional R$ 68 billion for the financial system.
