Demonstrations on September 7 maintain a climate of institutional tension

The demonstrations in support of President Jair Bolsonaro, held yesterday, September 7, in important state capitals of the country, were significant. The biggest protests occurred in São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Brasília (DF). The large amount of protestors shows that the President still has the ability to mobilize his supporters. However, Bolsonaro is politically isolated. Even if he manages to keep his supporters mobilized, the part of the electorate that voted for Bolsonaro due to the disruptive situation in 2018 is shifting away from him.
