With a week left to the critical run-off between Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu, the politics section is rather brief, focusing on two issues. First the politics author explains why his predictions didn’t pan out. It turns out that there was a groundswell of nationalism, while IYIP and CHP voters didn’t do their job properly.
Does Kilicdaroglu have a reasonable chance of overcoming the Erdogan juggernaut? There is at best 20% odds for that kind of miracle, though it is mathematically doable. More than the respective second-round strategies of rival camps, it is the self-reckoning of the secularist voter that will determine the outcome.
