Drone attacks on Russian naval base

On August 4 Ukrainian sea drones attacked Novorossiysk and were all destroyed, Russia said. This is the first time that Ukraine has attacked a naval base in Russia itself and not Crimea. The local governor said no damage or casualties were sustained. However, a Ukrainian source told Reuters that a Russian landing ship was badly damaged. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium runs an oil terminal from Novorossiysk. It is a vital export route for Russian and Kazakh oil. Civilian shipping was briefly forbidden into and out of the port, which is one of Russia's largest. There were also drone attacks on Russian bases and facilities in Crimea. Russia claimed 13 Ukrainian drones were shot down, and there were no Russian losses. But some social media posts claimed that an oil depot was set on fire.Â
