Dutch court convicts 3 men for downing Air Malaysia

On November 17 the court found 2 Russians and 1 pro-Moscow Ukrainian were found guilty in absentia of shooting down the civilian airliner in 2014. This resulted in the deaths of 298 people on MH17.One defendant was acquitted. The court found that the plane was shot down on purpose but that the guilty had thought it was a Ukrainian military plane. One of those convicted was the head of a pro-Russian militia in Donetsk. Another man was found guilty of bringing in the Buk missile launcher that destroyed the plane. The only man to have chosen to be legally represented at the trial was cleared. The plane was flying from Amsterdam to Malaysia over Ukraine when it was destroyed. Russia has claimed that Ukraine shot down the plane despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
