Economic growth in March 2021 was 10.6%, compared to March 2020

The recovery of the Dominican economy strengthened last March. The growth of the Monthly Index of Economic Activity (IMAE) was 10.6%, compared to the same period in 2020. This is the second consecutive month where economic activity in 2021 continues to expand, exceeding the existing levels in February and March 2020. The highest growth was in the construction sector (56.8%), followed by free zones (32.4%) and mining (21.4%) . The accumulated growth in January-March 2021 is estimated at 3.1%, compared to January-March 2020.
