The Joint Policies Protocol (JPP) of the opposition Nation Alliance, a coalition program of sorts, earned grudging respect from skeptics, but little public enthusiasm. It needs sexy slogans and a champion to sell it in Anatolia. That person would be the joint presidential candidate of the Nation Alliance, over whom tough negotiations are underway. CHP leader Kilicdaroglu is the safe bet, though IYIP fielding its own candidate can’t be ruled out.

On the other hand, it appears like, notwithstanding the controversy over the presidential candidate, the Nation Alliance will contest parliamentary elections in harmony, combining forces in dozens of districts to overcome the advantage the electoral system awarded to AKP.
