President Lula has sworn in Frederico de Siqueira Filho as the new Minister of Communications. He stepped down as president of Telebras to take the position. Next week is expected to be a quiet one in Congress due to the May 1 Labor Day holiday. On Tuesday, April 29, the president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, and the of the Progressista Party (PP), Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), will officially formalize the federation between the two parties, which will be called União Progressista (UP). Under current legislation, the alliance must last at least four years.
