First arrests in the Odebretch case

As we finalize our quarterly report, the Office of the General Prosecutor ordered the first arrests in the Odebretch case. So far, 12 persons are currently in custody (or about to be) and will be charged: Angel Rondón: entrepreneur who supposedly acted as the middleman in the bribery scheme. Andres Bautista: President of the PRM (opposition) and formerly President of the Senate. Victor Diaz Rúa: formerly Minister of Public Works and finance strong man for former President Leonel Fernandez. Radhamés Segura: former Executive VP of CDEEE, the state-owned electricity conglomerate, during Fernandez’s term. Current member of the all mighty Political Committee of PLD. César Sánchez: former Executive VP of CDEEE, the state-owned electricity conglomerate, during Mejia’s term. Current member of the board of CDEEE board. High ranking member of PRM. Temístocles Montás: current Minister of Industry and Commerce, former Minister of Planning and Development in both Medina’s and Fernandez’s administration. Member of the Political Committee of PLD. Pre-candidate for President in 2016. Alfredo Pacheco, congressmen and former President of the Chamber of Representatives. High ranking PRM official. Julio César Valentín, Senator, former President of the Senate and member of the Political Committee of PLD. Tommy Galán (to be confirmed), current Senator and President of the Finance Committee of the Senate. Roberto Rodríguez, former Director of INAPA, the agency in charge of building and administering aqueducts of mid and small size cities. Conrado Pittaluga, lawyer related to Victor Díaz Rúa.
