When Senator Flávio Bolsonaro attempted to register his candidacy for the presidency, he was prevented from doing so because the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) system showed that he was affiliated with Missão rather than the PL. Yesterday, the TSE restored Flávio’s PL affiliation. His candidacy has now been registered with the TSE. The deadline for registering candidacies with the Electoral Court is Saturday. The official campaign period begins on Sunday and runs through October 1. The Brazilian government said yesterday that it had formally notified the United States of the initiation of the reciprocity process in response to the sweeping tariffs imposed on Brazilian products. The process is based on the Economic Reciprocity Law, enacted in 2025 after being approved by a broad majority in Congress.
