On May 27 an art gallery was raided by the SBI because it contained paintings owned by Poroshenko. Petro Poroshenko is being investigated by the SBI (the Ukrainian equivalent of the FBI). He is accused of illegally importing 43 paintings. He has put them on display.Former President Poroshenko has already been investigated on other issues. He was accused of treason in relation to the 2015 Minsk Agreement as well as money laundering, tax evasion and unlawfully appointing judges. No charges have been laid against him. So many investigations but no charges makes it seem like the SBI is being abused as a tool of political persecution. Is the evidence against him that flimsy? It is widely conjectured that the SBI has been ordered by Zelensky to give Poroshenko a hard time. The EU expressed its disapproval.The previous Prosecutor-General was fired and the reason was supposedly for not issuing a notice of suspicion against Poroshenko.
