Gazprom cuts off gas to the EU indefinitely

On September 2 the Russian state gas company said that the gas pipeline to Germany will not reopen on September 3. Gazprom claimed that the additional delay before reopening is due to oil leaks. The 3-day shutdown was due to a need to repair a turbine. On September 2 the Kremlin said that Nord Stream's future is in jeopardy because of the dearth of spare parts. This seems like an attempt to link it to sanctions. Surprisingly, Putin's personal spokesman spoke to the world media about turbines in the pipeline. Since 2022 Russia has been reducing oil and gas sales to the EU. The EU suspects Russia is doing this to force the EU to withdraw support for Ukraine.
