Government prepares announcement of economic measures; Maia focuses on reforms

In order to build a positive agenda, the Jair Bolsonaro government is working on the final format of the basic income program – Renda Brasil, which will replace Bolsa Família – and other projects aimed at restarting economic growth. According to the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo, the Minister of the Economy, Paulo Guedes, is signalling the granting of an average benefit of R$ 247.00 to Renda Brasil. However, the value has not yet been confirmed by the government.

Meanwhile, the President of the Lower House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), is betting on the reform agenda. In an interview with Rádio Guaíba, from Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Maia stated that the House is able to approve the tax and administrative reforms in 2020. However, if this is not possible, he believes that the tax and administrative reforms should be completed in early 2021.
