The Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) yesterday approved the framework of the Wildlife Oiled Response and Protection Plan (PPAF), presented by Petrobras. This represents an important step in the environmental licensing process for oil exploration in the Foz do Amazonas Basin. Today, the Democratic Labor Party (PDT) meets in a gathering that marks the return of former Social Security Minister Carlos Lupi to the national leadership of the party. The meeting will define the party’s position regarding President Lula’s administration and will also address the crisis at the Brazilian Social Security Institute (INSS). This morning, the Lower House Special Committee reviewing the bill that exempts individuals earning up to R$ 5,000 per month from income tax will hold a public hearing.
