Incoming President of Moldova calls for Russian troops to leave

On November 30 Maia Sandu said that Russian troops should leave Transdnistria. Transdnistria is a region of Moldova that broke away in 1991. Russian troops have been there ever since. Moscow says that they are peacekeepers. Moldova says that they are occupiers. Sandu wants unarmed European observers to monitor Transdnnistria. Maia Sandu is the President-Elect. She shall assume office on December 23. She is pro-EU. She defeated incumbent. Igor Dodon who is pro-Russian.Moldova's official languages are Russian and Romanian. The UN passed a resolution in 2018 calling for the pullout of Russian Forces from Transdnistria.
