Iran buying Russian vaccine

On January 30 Iran announced that it will receive Sputnik V doses on February 4. Iran has already approved the vaccine. There will be further shipments later in February. Iran and Russia have had a fairly warm relationship for the last 30 years.Iran has refused to countenance vaccines made in the United States and the UK. The Iranians have suffered 1.4 million coronavirus cases and 58,000 deaths. Iran is under US sanctions but medicines are not sanctioned. Nonetheless, international banks refuse to process payments for Iran, making it nigh impossible for Tehran to buy Western vaccines.
