* This comes as a sensitive time, when Supreme Leader Ali Khamanei may not have long to live and Raisi had been a potential successor.
* Progress on restoring relations with Bahrain and US-Iran negotiations will likely stall for now.
* There are scenarios for Iran including moderation and civil war, but neither currently look likely.
