Upon taking office as president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Justice Luis Roberto Barroso defended harmony between the branches of government. This week, the relationship between the Legislature and the STF became more strained due to the time frame issue. Yesterday, one day after the meeting between Finance Minister Fernando Haddad, Central Bank Governor Roberto Campos Neto and President Lula, Deputy Lindbergh Farias (RJ)—one of the deputy leaders of the PT in the House—reported Roberto Campos Neto to the Ethics Committee of the Presidency of the Republic. Lindbergh is asking the body to investigate whether the Central Bank (BC) president has resources in exclusive funds remunerated by the basic interest rate (Selic), which is decided by the BC's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom).
