Kazakh government dismissed

On February 5 the entire cabinet was dismissed by President Tokayev. He appointed a new acting prime minister: Roman Sklyar. Sklyar previously served as deputy prime minister. He is ethnically Russian and is the first ethnic Russian to hold this post since the Soviet era. In 2019 the entire cabinet resigned because of a scandal about a fire that killed several children. But in 2024 the government has not stated a reason for the en masse resignation.
