Kazakh ruling family's UK property declared legal

A London court has ruled in favor of the Kazakh leader's family on April 8. The Nazarbayev family has over GBP 100 million worth of property in the United Kingdom. Nursultan Nazarbayev has the title 'Leader if the Nation' in Kazakhstan - he retired as president in 2019. The National Crime Agency in the UK issued an Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO) on three properties in the UK owned by Nazarbayev's daughter Darigha Nazarbayeva and grandson Nurali Aliev. Darigha Nazarbayeva is Chairwoman of the Senate in Kazakhstan. That makes her number two in the country. Many assume that she will be the next president. The properties were bought through offshore companies. The court ruled that UWOs on the properties are dismissed. If people cannot prove that they legally obtained the wealth used to purchase properties in the UK then the properties can be confiscated without compensation.
