Kazakhstan restricts taking currency and gold abroad

On March 14 the president signed a decree limiting people to taking USD 10,000 in cash or gold abroad. This is due to the economic contraction in Russia, which has impacted Kazakhstan. The KZT has fallen 20% in the last 18 days.Kazakh banks no longer give their clients USD due to the paucity of the currency. The same is true in other Eurasian Economic Union countries.Kazakhstan is neutral in the Ukraine War. There is a rumor that Russia requested military assistance from Kazakhstan. Both governments deny it.
