Keiko Fujimori Concedes Defeat

During a short public presentation, and accompanied by her huge 73 strong force elected to the new Congress, Fujimori recognised Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's triumph. In her speech, she sated that their stance will be that of a strong and watchful opposition. She announced her intention of submitting legislation to Congress consistent with her party's campaign program.Kuczynski made the important decision of keeping the Central Bank Governor at the Central Bank (this nomination needs congressional approval), and that he would try to convince current Education Minister Jaime Saavedra to continue in the new Cabinet. His Economic advisor Alfredo Thorne will almost certainly become the new Minister of Finance. Answering a question on whether he would pardon Alberto Fujimori, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence, Kuczynski said that he would not, but that he stood ready to approve a Congressional general law to permit the ex-president and others in a 'similar situation' to finish their sentences under house arrest.
