Ihor Kolomoyskiy advised Zelenskiy to default on external debts. A cheeky and provocative advice. Kolomoyskiy gave many other interviews throwing to the pubic verity of quite controversial messages. Many of those statements go in contrast to what Zelenskiy himself or his advisors claim. What is going on? In private talk former Chief of Staff of Yushchenko administration said that those interviews are evidence that Ihor Kolomoyskiy has poor influence on Zelenskiy. Kolomoyskiy used to play in shadow. Journalists used to face difficulties to get even a small comment from the oligarch. And suddenly he becomes unbelievably talkative. Just for few weeks he gives more interviews than for his whole life. What for? Kolomoyskiy wants to demonstrate that he is in play. And, probably, he wants to provoke Zelenskiy to make some deal with him. In fact Kolomoyskiy with his interviews spoils the game for Zelenskiy. Newly elected president tries to send positive messages, announces a meeting with the IMF representative to confirm that the IMF is important, and meets the Head of the NBU to show that he respects independence of the regulator. And suddenly Kolomoyskiy's comment puts Zelenskiy in a very uncomfortable position. There is an expectation that open conflict between Zelenskiy and Kolomoyskiy is not far away.
