Lack of agreement postpones sending the second phase of the Tax Reform proposal; the creation of a new social program is announced
The government leader in the Lower House, Ricardo Barros (PP-PR), announced today that there is still no consensus on the second phase of the Tax Reform proposal. During the announcement, the government leader was accompanied by President Jair Bolsonaro, ministers, and party leaders. At the same press conference, the government leader in the Senate, Fernando Bezerra (MDB-PE) stated that it was agreed with leaders that there will be no increase in the tax burden in the proposal.
The rapporteur of the Federative Pact, Senator Márcio Bittar (MDB-AC), said on Monday that the Renda Cidadã, the new basic income program announced today by the government to replace Renda Brasil, will be financed with Fundeb resources and with funds reserved in the Budget for payments of bonds. Bittar participated with party leaders and ministers in a meeting at the Palácio do Alvorada with President Jair Bolsonaro. They announced the new income transfer program to the press.
