After the confirmation ceremony, Lula should continue with the negotiations for the formation of his ministerial team. Aloizio Mercadante is a strong candidate for the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). The elected government has two major challenges regarding the Transition PEC. The first is to negotiate an expedited analysis process, which allows for voting on the proposal by the end of the week. The second is to approve the text without changes, so as not to force the matter back to the Senate. On Wednesday, December 14, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) resumes trial on four lawsuits that challenge the so-called “rapporteur's amendments” to the Budget, known as RP9. Marcelo Castro said he hoped that the STF would not consider the amendments unconstitutional, but alter them, demanding more transparency.
