Yesterday, President Lula announced that Brazil is developing a proposal to join the Belt and Road Initiative, China’s infrastructure and investment project that already includes around 150 countries. In Congress, there is pressure for the government to address expenditure, not just revenue issues. The government announced a R$ 15 billion budget cut for this year. The Federal Government will launch the first phase of the Voa Brasil program at a press conference this afternoon. The program aims to create new demand from a constituency that currently does not fly, by offering airline tickets for up to R$ 200 per flight leg.
