President Lula has nominated the Central Bank's Director of Monetary Policy, Gabriel Galípolo, for the presidency of the institution. Galípolo would replace Roberto Campos Neto, whose term ends on December 31. His appointment will need to be confirmed in the Senate. Yesterday, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) suspended the trial that debates whether the ISS, a municipal tax, should be included in the calculation of the PIS/Cofins taxes. A new date for the trial's resumption has not yet been set. Yesterday, the Lower House approved an update to Brazilian tourism legislation, outlined in bill 1829/2019. Among the new provisions are changes to the rules regarding the National Civil Aviation Fund (Fnac), which can now be used as a guarantee source for financing to airlines.
