Yesterday, President Lula met with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and others regarding the decree that regulates the change in the inflation target. The President approved the decree that changes the annual inflation target regime to a continuous target model starting in 2025, with a target of 3%. Negotiations on the state debt, which are being conducted by Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), are advancing. According to Pacheco, the possibility of delivering state assets for payment of federal debt was accepted by the government. Regarding the 2026 election, the Governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), stated yesterday that he wants to participate in the presidential elections in 2026 and did not rule out running as a vice-presidential candidate on a right-wing ticket.
