After the worsening of wildfires across the country, President Lula called an emergency meeting yesterday with the heads of the three branches of government. The President of the Supreme Federal Court, Luis Roberto Barroso, stated that the National Justice Council has recommended that judges prioritize the processing of environmental violation cases. The President of the Lower House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said that he believes it would be easy to relax the fiscal framework to combat criminal fires. The Senate's Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) will hold a public hearing this afternoon on the impacts of the Tax Reform on Brazilian infrastructure. Today, the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) will announce its decision on the benchmark interest rate.
