Yesterday, President Lula met with the president of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP). The meeting was significant, signaling the Executive’s intent to strengthen ties with the Legislative branch. Yesterday, a Genial/Quaest poll on the 2026 electoral landscape was released. In the runoff, Lula holds between 41% and 45% of intended votes. With such margins, it is unlikely that he would choose not to run. Donald Trump's decision to impose tariffs on products from Mexico, Canada, and China has raised concerns within Brazil’s agribusiness sector. The president of the Agricultural Parliamentary Front (FPA), Federal Deputy Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), stated that he hopes Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) is prepared for such negotiations.
