In an interview with Record, President Lula said that the vote on the Income Tax Bill will take place next week. The vote, however, depends on negotiations between the Finance Ministry and party leaders. Over the past few days, São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) has gained momentum as Jair Bolsonaro’s potential candidate for 2026. Optimism around Tarcísio grew yesterday following the release of an AtlasIntel poll on the presidential succession. On Tuesday, the trial begins for the former president and seven other defendants linked to “Nucleus 1” of the 2022 attempted coup.
