In his speech at the opening of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, President Lula (PT) adopted an ideological narrative that also focused on domestic politics. Lula defended national sovereignty and the principle of non-interference in countries’ internal affairs. The governments of 14 countries that are part of the "Shield of the Americas", a U.S.-led cooperation group focused on security and counternarcotics, followed Donald Trump’s lead and also began classifying the criminal organizations Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as terrorist groups. Today, Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) will hold an extraordinary closed-door session to review Petrobras’s fuel pricing policy. The meeting was called at the request of Minister Jhonatan de Jesus, the reporting judge in the proceeding auditing the state-owned company’s governance.
