President Lula traveled to the United States yesterday. This is his first trip to the U.S. since Donald Trump was elected president. However, no meeting between Lula and Trump is expected. Congressman Arthur Lira (PP-AL), rapporteur of the bill granting an income tax exemption for those earning up to R$5,000 per month, will present his report at the leaders’ meeting on Tuesday. Congressman Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade-SP) is negotiating the terms of the amnesty bill. The expectation is that the Lower House will complete its vote in the coming days and send the bill to the Senate.
