This week, President Lula will travel to Indonesia and Malaysia, where there is a possibility of a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. He departs on Thursday. Another important issue awaiting definition is the announcement of fiscal measures to offset the expiration of Provisional Measure (MP) No. 1,303/25, which addressed the taxation of betting platforms and tax-exempt securities. Among the measures under consideration are points that were already included in the MP, such as taxation of betting, increased taxes on fintechs, and spending cuts. The Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee will hold two public hearings this week to discuss the bill that exempts individuals earning up to R$ 5,000 per month from paying income tax—one on Tuesday and another on Thursday.
