Executive Summary Growth in financing to the non bank private sector in Mexico has been led largely in recent months by a significant rise in external financing by large companies at the same time as the flow of consumer credit and loans to smaller companies remains weak. Growth in consumer credit, both bank and non bank, has been depressed. Consumer credit issued by banks increased 2.9% in August of this year, the lowest rate since 2010, with consumer credit issued through credit cards practically flat in August at the same time as credit for consumer purchases of durable goods fell 2.8%. ...
