Moody's did not review Hungary's sovereign credit rating last week

Moody's passed its first pre-announced review date of this year for Hungary's sovereign credit rating on Friday, March 3 without actually doing a review. As a matter of fact, this sounds like good news, as there seemed to be a realistic chance for a negative rating step, in the form of lowering the agency's Baa2 outlook on this occasion, in the light of the negative ratings decisions announced by S&P and Fitch Ratings in late January. So for now, Hungary remains having a split rating from the top three agencies, just as the following table shows: The table also tells us that Hungary is set to have a few months of peace from rating agencies now, as the next Top-3 review date is due on June 23 (Fitch Ratings) only. Moody's has been traditionally the most positive of the Top-3 agencies on Hungary, typically the most negative being S&P.
