More drone strikes as Xi leaves Russia

On March 22 the Chinese President flew home. There was a drone strike on the Russian naval base at Sevastopol that Russia claimed to have fended off. Russia said no damage was inflicted by the drones. The Russian Governor of Crimea said it is false to say, as some have, that people are leaving Crimea due to drone attacks. There were Russian drone strikes on the Kyiv area on March 22. This caused 4 civilians deaths. Xi's article, which was published in Russia during his visit, said that Russia and China are not allies but mentioned their friendship and cooperation. Though Putin was blatantly delighted to host his Chinese counterpart there was no concrete outcome of the visit. On March 22 Western media sources said that prisoners who volunteered to fight for Wagner are about to be pardoned as they have served 6 months in some cases. It was also reported that Russia is having trouble paying soldiers on time.Â
